The School Year

The School Year

Our school calendar varies from year to year but the following are events that pretty much always take place, and parents, relatives and friends are welcome to join us at most of them:

Autumn Term

Harvest Assembly: We ask the children to bring food products to school, and they are used to form a display that is the centrepiece for our celebration. The produce is later donated to a local charity, and this event is usually attended by a visiting speaker.

Whole School Christmas service : this is held in St Laurence’s Church in Foxton, and includes singing, and narration of the nativity performed by KS1 children.

Spring Term

School Disco: an early evening New Year’s disco for all the children to attend.

Summer Term

Summer Fete: this is usually held in early July; it is organised by the Friends of Foxton School, and is their biggest fund-raising event of the school year. There are lots of fun things (as you might expect!) for all the family to enjoy, and lots of helpers are needed to make the event a success.

Sports’ Day: this is held one afternoon in July; all children participate in a variety of activities in mixed age group teams, cheered on by friends and family.

Key Stage 2 Production
This is a play staged by children in Key Stage 2, performed during the summer term.

Celebration Evening: the school is opened to all, to celebrate the end of the academic year. Parents, relatives and friends have the opportunity to wander round the school and grounds, see displays of the children’s work and enjoy performances by our talented young musicians (in the open air, weather permitting!).

Year 6 Assembly: a fun event led by Year 6 children, held on the last morning of term.
